Composer, Producer, Recording Artist, Musician, Podcast Host…Grammy nominee (2016)!
After producing the song “I Can’t Breathe” for Marcus Miller on his most recent release, Afrodeezia, Mocean Worker finds himself a Grammy nominee. With the nominations just announced, he is up for his very first Grammy in the category of Best Contemporary Instrumental Album.
In the last year Mocean Worker or “Mowo!” as his friends call him, has scored the Emmy-Nominated/NAACP Award Winning score for the documentary “Richard Pryor-Omit The Logic”, co-composed the end title credit, along with Dave Porter, for Better Call Saul and produced the aforementioned “I Can’t Breathe” from Afrodeezia for his good friend and fellow bassist, Marcus Miller.
He was also nominated for a 2015 Juno for Pop Album of the Year as producer on Nikki Yanofsky’s Little Secret (A440/Universal).
Currently, Mocean Worker is working on new music for an “as yet untitled” new film for Simon Cowell.
He released a greatest hits album in Japan last year after finally breaking through in that market earlier in the year with two albums. He produced multiple tracks along with Exec. Producer Quincy Jones for Canadian vocal prodigy and Universal Records recording artist Nikki Yanofsky.
Mocean Worker penned the theme for the Sony PlayStation Video Game “Little Big Planet”. In between all of this, his song “Shake Ya Boogie” was used for a worldwide ad campaign for Chevy Motors SUV division. He also managed to find time to play bass on several tracks for “Breaking Bad”.
In the midst of all of this, Mocean Worker and long-time friend and genius musician Charlie Hunter managed to start one of the more popular music podcasts on iTunes: “Compared To What” and it features some of the greatest names in music sitting down and having conversations.
Mocean Worker doesn’t like to sit still.
